This month we are extremely honoured to have makeup artist Ginette Hall write a guest blog for our site. Ginette's career began at MAC Cosmetics where she gained advance makeup techniques while simultaneously attending the prestigious Blanche Macdonald Centre. Her areas of expertise include fashion, bridal, and television.
We tapped Ginette's shoulder to offer her expertise to help readers choose the right lipstick colours for this month's blog. She offers a ton of helpful information which we already know will be helpful to us when we mix custom colours for our own clients. Keep these tips in mind next time you shop for your next lipstick!
Thought I’d start this blog out with some gratitude. We’ve had many bookings and inquiries for our Custom Sessions - thank you so much! Mixing customized colours is our bread and butter. These sessions are all about the EXPERIENCE. Yes, you can purchase a lipstick at the store, online, or from a local boutique, but where can you go to get one made to order? If you’ve heard us mention custom lip sessions on our Instagram stories and you want to learn more about this service, read on!
“I read a book called Brave, Not Perfect by Reshma Saujani and it influenced me to start my blog. It helped me to realize that the wall that was holding me back was deep ingrained [perfectionist] learning that females grow up with in society. To break that wall, you have to learn to not be perfect - but to be brave.”
When Shaina reached out to me inquiring about a collaboration, I was immediately intrigued by her vision of having her collection infused with reiki. 'Hmmm, how would that even work?' I wondered. I need to know more, so as we developed her collection I asked some of the same questions that she answers in this blog. And now after launching this wildly successful two-colour collection - 'Love' a soft pink and 'Light' a warm brown, which has caught attention reaching as far as New York, I knew I wanted to feature her here to chat about this unique collection of lipstick and lip gloss customized for her business.
We are celebrating by posting our first blog ever! Thank you to our clients who have showed their support over this past year. We exist because we want women of every colour to channel that special power that comes with wearing a damn good lipstick.
Has the pandemic changed your beauty routine? For me, the pandemic has changed some of my beauty rituals which have made me become a lot more comfortable being makeup-free (bonus: less breakouts whoop!) But on the other hand, putting makeup on has now become more like a treat because I do it less.
